Hello everyone and welcome to another stream from Vera.
  • 00:26
We have been building up to this moment a little bit in the showcase for the tower at
  • 00:35
Karfen.
  • 00:39
I think there's been some lore that we've released during last November's Extra Life
  • 00:46
livestream.
  • 00:47
We played through a portion of this tower and now we have an opportunity to take a look
  • 00:54
together, a little sneak peek, a small portion of this area and the lore behind it.
  • 01:02
And we're also going to take a focus with some of the developers that will be joining
  • 01:07
us here in a second, I'll introduce them, into the system of our story arcs and how
  • 01:13
that system works in reflecting the changes that players elicit from the world of Vera.
  • 01:22
So I want to introduce one of our senior designers, Scott.
  • 01:30
How are you doing buddy?
  • 01:31
Doing very good, thank you for asking.
  • 01:35
Welcome to your design become reality.
  • 01:40
Thank you.
  • 01:43
Scott has been working on the narrative for this particular story arc that we're all
  • 01:48
going to see in a second with his team, with whom we are joined by one of our designers,
  • 01:55
Aimee.
  • 01:56
Aimee, how are you doing?
  • 01:57
Hi, I'm doing good, Stephen.
  • 02:00
Welcome.
  • 02:01
Is this your first time on the stream?
  • 02:05
It is, yeah.
  • 02:06
That is awesome.
  • 02:07
Aimee is one of our incredibly talented designers who is helping create the narrative around
  • 02:14
Vera, and you guys may have played some of her quests in Alpha 1, actually.
  • 02:23
One in particular is the, I believe it was the Lost Pages and the, that spider quest?
  • 02:29
Is that right, Aimee?
  • 02:30
Were those yours?
  • 02:31
Those were my quests, yeah.
  • 02:34
Thanks for remembering them.
  • 02:35
I know, they're great.
  • 02:36
Yeah, I'm super excited to join today.
  • 02:41
We're very excited to have you.
  • 02:45
And then in addition, we have what is soon becoming a regular on the streams, Mr. Jeremy,
  • 02:53
one of our senior designers.
  • 02:54
How you doing, buddy?
  • 02:56
I'm doing good.
  • 02:57
Happy to show off Scott's masterpiece creation here.
  • 03:00
Easy.
  • 03:01
Story arc on the stream.
  • 03:02
Oh my goodness.
  • 03:03
Laying it on thick.
  • 03:04
I know, wow.
  • 03:05
Love it.
  • 03:06
Pretty exciting.
  • 03:07
It is exciting.
  • 03:08
It is exciting.
  • 03:09
I mean, I've always said that Nodes is the new hotness that we've been showing and story
  • 03:14
arcs are the new hotness we've been hiding.
  • 03:16
Yes, agreed.
  • 03:18
Totally agree.
  • 03:19
So one of the first things that you guys are going to notice in this environment is that
  • 03:26
we have this perspective of the tower.
  • 03:29
And I think, Scott, do you want to talk a little bit about story arcs as a system?
  • 03:37
Yeah, sure.
  • 03:39
So it's helpful, I think, to think about story arcs as kind of like a prepackaged tabletop
  • 03:45
campaign.
  • 03:46
They contain like all of the NPCs and quests and monsters, like all the things you need
  • 03:51
to make like a cool fantasy story.
  • 03:53
They're not procedurally generated.
  • 03:55
We author them.
  • 03:56
We write all the dialogue and we construct all the narrative beats and everything like
  • 03:59
that.
  • 04:00
But they will enter the world dynamically depending on the state that the world is currently
  • 04:07
in, how players have built up specific nodes, like what races control various nodes.
  • 04:14
We have plans to include lots of different things on top of that.
  • 04:18
But yeah, we don't have any quest hubs or anything like that in this game because players
  • 04:22
build up all the cities.
  • 04:25
So we had to get a system that kind of looks at what players are doing and can inject content
  • 04:30
into the world that makes sense for what they're doing.
  • 04:33
So we see it as like the world decides in the state that it's in that we're going to
  • 04:37
now play this module.
  • 04:39
We're going to because of the state of the nodes being in this way and certain races
  • 04:44
have this one, we're going to play Purse of Strahd.
  • 04:47
We're going to do Blood Still Do.
  • 04:49
We're going to do this module.
  • 04:51
So one of the things that I find most unique about our story arc system is that they're
  • 04:57
intended to represent change, change within the story of what Vera is telling.
  • 05:07
And we don't just do that through these new quest logs and dialogue, but also by literally
  • 05:15
changing the environments and showing these active states that represent what is happening
  • 05:22
and what choices the players have made previously in the different chapters perhaps of other
  • 05:27
story arcs.
  • 05:28
Scott, I know that we have been working hard on this.
  • 05:31
Your team has been working particularly hard and with engineering to kind of stand the
  • 05:35
system up over the last several months.
  • 05:39
But you have the ability to push us into the next chapter manually, correct?
  • 05:45
Yeah.
  • 05:46
Normally this is a story that would require us to have built up some of the nodes in the
  • 05:53
area.
  • 05:54
Here you could just build up Miraleth directly to get access to where we're going or any
  • 05:58
of the nodes in the Riverlands could have leveled up to a certain amount to have basically
  • 06:04
enabled the story to spawn.
  • 06:06
But I'll just turn this on for us now manually.
  • 06:09
Let's see.
  • 06:10
If that's good.
  • 06:11
Get ready, ladies and gentlemen.
  • 06:13
All right.
  • 06:14
Welcome.
  • 06:15
I push it.
  • 06:16
It takes a second, but it will kick on.
  • 06:17
To the Tower of Carthen.
  • 06:21
And Houston.
  • 06:24
There it goes.
  • 06:30
Uh oh.
  • 06:34
Oh, things are getting red.
  • 06:45
The complete...
  • 06:48
What is that?
  • 06:51
The blood.
  • 06:52
Oh, the blood still do?
  • 06:56
There it is.
  • 06:57
It's paying right now.
  • 06:58
Oh my gosh.
  • 07:02
So yeah, when Storics come online, they change a lot in the environment.
  • 07:06
They update what monsters are in the world.
  • 07:10
They create quests NPCs.
  • 07:11
As you can see, Orin, he's not normally here.
  • 07:14
We've moved him for the sake of this.
  • 07:18
And then yeah, new pathways can open up through the environment.
  • 07:23
Is the bridge moving?
  • 07:25
Yeah.
  • 07:26
Oh my gosh.
  • 07:30
Oh, that's nasty.
  • 07:33
What are the vines?
  • 07:36
It's corruption.
  • 07:39
So a very terrible curse is sort of remaining here after a sort of desperate spell was cast
  • 07:51
during the Harbinger apocalypse.
  • 07:54
You saw a bit of that spell being replayed at the top of the tower there.
  • 07:58
But when the ancients were advancing toward the Aelin capital, where Carthen is sort of
  • 08:03
strategically positioned between where the Harbinger comet landed and the Aelin capital,
  • 08:10
the mages here, and Carthen was known throughout the Aelin empire for its magical prowess.
  • 08:15
The head mage here did a very desperate and dangerous spell to slow the ancients advance.
  • 08:23
And that was to buy the time for the capital of Aela where they were building one of the
  • 08:29
divine gateways.
  • 08:30
Yeah, exactly.
  • 08:31
Because I'm sort of opening people to get out.
  • 08:33
Right.
  • 08:34
They needed more time.
  • 08:35
They needed to make space for them.
  • 08:38
They did something pretty terrible to do that.
  • 08:40
They bought them the time.
  • 08:42
But as you can see, this once great city has suffered a great cost.
  • 08:47
Wow, this is cool.
  • 08:48
I like the little jump puzzle.
  • 08:50
This is awesome.
  • 08:54
What is that?
  • 08:55
I hear all the time.
  • 08:57
The story arc helped this bridge form.
  • 09:01
This bridge might also appear if you've leveled up Miraleth enough to create kind of this
  • 09:06
pathway.
  • 09:07
Otherwise, there's other ways to get there, but more dangerous ways.
  • 09:10
Is that a what is that down there?
  • 09:15
That's a fiend golem.
  • 09:16
Fiend golem.
  • 09:17
Flesh golem.
  • 09:18
Fiend version.
  • 09:19
Oh, I like how the light just lit up to showcase the the body.
  • 09:25
That's crazy.
  • 09:26
That's super cool.
  • 09:28
And so now the spawn tables around the city of Carfin have changed as a result of the
  • 09:40
story arc progression.
  • 09:42
Right.
  • 09:43
So normally when the city is not in its cursed state, you've got a whole subset of like constructs
  • 09:51
and various other like arcane things.
  • 09:53
Like you saw the animated armor and stuff like that.
  • 09:56
While the...
  • 09:57
Fences, yeah.
  • 09:58
While the curse is in effect, we've got these watch wolves, these seekers here who they
  • 10:04
have their own sort of story and reason for being here while the curse is active.
  • 10:08
Ultraseekers, yeah.
  • 10:10
Yeah.
  • 10:11
Wow.
  • 10:12
And they've got their summon watch wolves watching their backs as they're doing what
  • 10:22
they're doing.
  • 10:24
Wow.
  • 10:26
The environment team did an unbelievable job here.
  • 10:29
They did a killer job on this.
  • 10:31
Yeah, this looks so good.
  • 10:33
The whole team was full bore.
  • 10:35
I was like, it's a blood curse.
  • 10:38
And they really took that personally.
  • 10:40
They said, oh, you want to see what corruption looks like?
  • 10:44
I know.
  • 10:45
Well, what is...
  • 10:46
Talk to us a little bit about blood magic versus just normal corruption.
  • 10:52
So yeah, blood magic is a sort of illegal kind of magic.
  • 10:57
And using it in any amounts creates a certain amount of corruption in the caster.
  • 11:03
And that corruption can bleed over into the environments and things that they draw essence
  • 11:07
from in order to cast those spells.
  • 11:09
This was a blood magic that obviously consumed a whole heck of a lot of it.
  • 11:17
She wasn't intending for this kind of after effect?
  • 11:20
No, no.
  • 11:21
Yeah, the major cast of this was not able to understand the scope of the destruction
  • 11:28
that that would cause.
  • 11:30
But also in the final days of ancient vera during the harbinger apocalypse, there was
  • 11:39
not a whole lot of deliberation.
  • 11:40
There wasn't a whole lot of magical research and safety precautions that they could take.
  • 11:50
So yeah, it did its job, but you know.
  • 11:56
Yeah, it seemed to...
  • 11:59
Like even if it delayed a lot of the progress they made towards the portal, it seemed like
  • 12:05
they really created a lot of destruction along the way.
  • 12:10
Carfan itself has a lot of history built into the environment here too.
  • 12:14
You'll see lots of statues and stuff around that go into it.
  • 12:18
One of the five main city states, five primary city states of the Aelan people.
  • 12:25
Then they would form into the Aelan Empire following the Great War of the Undying with
  • 12:31
King Atraks.
  • 12:33
Right now so many people are in charge just like, oh my god, we're finally getting lore.
  • 12:40
We could go all day on it if we want.
  • 12:43
We could, yeah.
  • 12:44
We don't want to give it all away.
  • 12:48
Well the story is kind of told over the course of four phases, four chapters.
  • 12:55
Each chapter will update spawns, change the quest givers, change what quests are available.
  • 13:01
And that's across the server.
  • 13:03
It's not like your individual progress phases that is.
  • 13:08
The actual quests themselves you can progress kind of at your own pace, but as long as it's
  • 13:12
within the window of that quest's phase being active.
  • 13:15
I mean who honestly has this much blood to spare?
  • 13:19
This is crazy.
  • 13:23
We're actually trying to figure out the science of if you took an entire city's worth of people,
  • 13:27
how many cups of blood would you have?
  • 13:31
Probably not very many.
  • 13:34
Less than you think, but it wouldn't be as dramatic if we were super realistic with it.
  • 13:37
It's magic.
  • 13:38
Yeah, it's magic.
  • 13:39
Blood is persistent and eternal.
  • 13:44
Perhaps we could do something about this curse.
  • 13:59
I don't know, Stephen, if you stopped and talked to Ornn and picked up that quest or
  • 14:02
not.
  • 14:03
Oh no, I did not.
  • 14:05
I think you still have all the quests that were in there before.
  • 14:09
Yeah, let me grab it.
  • 14:10
How do I open my journal again?
  • 14:11
What is that?
  • 14:12
It's L.
  • 14:13
Yeah, L to open your journal.
  • 14:14
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, I got it.
  • 14:15
There we go.
  • 14:16
Yeah, you can see there's other story arcs going on as well.
  • 14:19
The phase timers in there indicate how much real world time is available to do the quests
  • 14:25
in that phase.
  • 14:26
I see.
  • 14:28
What quests you do, or the quests that you do, it's not just a matter of completing the
  • 14:33
laundry list of things that the NPC has you do, but you pick from a whole bunch of objectives,
  • 14:38
many of them optional, some of them, if not most of them, hidden when you first undertake
  • 14:42
the quest.
  • 14:43
So go dig up a guide or blaze your own trail or whatever, but depending on which objectives
  • 14:48
you complete, those are the things that help the server aggregate what is going to happen
  • 14:53
in later phases of the story arc.
  • 14:55
And that's across all of the players participating during that time frame, what objectives they
  • 15:00
decide to complete.
  • 15:02
That's what drives what happens in later.
  • 15:04
Awesome.
  • 15:05
What quests are available, what NPCs are pulling ahead of other NPCs in terms of their progress
  • 15:10
toward their goals.
  • 15:12
And how you complete your quest matters.
  • 15:15
Yes.
  • 15:16
Yeah, with some objectives being exclusive of one another, so helping one NPC will lock
  • 15:21
you out of helping a different NPC.
  • 15:25
So yeah, it's...
  • 15:26
Oh no.
  • 15:27
Wow.
  • 15:28
I'm just taking in the sheer beauty, but also like a kind of gross beauty of this environment.
  • 15:40
It is so eerie.
  • 15:44
I think even the corrupted trees, you can harvest them.
  • 15:49
You find some of them that you can harvest.
  • 15:54
You can chop them down.
  • 15:57
Oh really?
  • 15:58
Yeah, they're a little bit hard to spot though.
  • 16:02
Well also, I believe that as part of these environments changing, you're also activating
  • 16:12
rare resource spawners that might only occur during certain events.
  • 16:17
Yeah, that's correct.
  • 16:18
So yeah, like corrupted soul bloom.
  • 16:22
And there was one that Kory had just put in.
  • 16:27
All those things are only available during certain story arcs and every story arc has
  • 16:30
its kind of special things that you want to try and take advantage of.
  • 16:34
And that one particular one.
  • 16:35
If they're in your backyard, swing by and pick them up.
  • 16:37
For herbalism, for making certain potions, sometimes you want to take advantage of the
  • 16:44
limited time you have during the story arcs to get some of these rare resources for crafting
  • 16:49
things.
  • 16:51
Certain poisons and potions from these limited corrupted spirit blooms, right?
  • 16:57
Yep.
  • 16:58
Sorry, I just disabled my HUD right now.
  • 17:03
Like this area is just too crazy.
  • 17:06
Huge tower.
  • 17:08
It looks so good.
  • 17:12
Jeremy and Hal and Adam I think.
  • 17:18
Who's all working on this Jeremy?
  • 17:20
Zach and Brandon and everybody.
  • 17:23
Scott.
  • 17:24
Other Scott.
  • 17:25
Yeah.
  • 17:26
Not me.
  • 17:27
Tristan.
  • 17:28
Yeah, this is absolutely beautiful.
  • 17:32
And talk to me a little bit about the dungeon.
  • 17:36
So the dungeon we're heading to right here, that's the Tower of Carthin.
  • 17:40
That is the mage university that following the Roar of the Undying, the elves, these
  • 17:47
humans, there's something to them.
  • 17:51
Let's gift them the gift of magic and how.
  • 17:55
Let's show them the advanced stuff.
  • 17:57
You can see some of that story reflected here on these murals.
  • 18:00
Build them a university.
  • 18:01
Hold on, I have to grab some stuff.
  • 18:04
And we can teach them the way we want to teach them.
  • 18:08
And the humans said, yeah, show us.
  • 18:11
I think we ran by the deans, the first deans of them, the statues back here.
  • 18:17
Oh yeah, we should go look at those.
  • 18:21
I really love how some of the ornate detail in the buildings have so much symbolism attached
  • 18:28
to them.
  • 18:29
It really makes it feel like there's a kind of deep floor behind all the murals.
  • 18:34
Which way over here?
  • 18:35
Go back this way to the statues we ran past.
  • 18:39
All the former headmasters.
  • 18:40
Oh yeah, these are the former deans.
  • 18:42
Right.
  • 18:43
So this one up front here, that's Tanfilaris Wren.
  • 18:48
He's the elf that came over from the elves and from the Pyrrhen elves at the time.
  • 18:57
And you can see he kind of built the tower for them.
  • 19:05
Started training the first students.
  • 19:07
Then one of the other towers is his best student, Aristod.
  • 19:11
I should point out his statue in a bit here.
  • 19:15
So he was the first human dean.
  • 19:18
And he's this one here, you can see him kind of with the book open.
  • 19:24
That was Aristod.
  • 19:25
He was the first human one after Tanfilaris went back to the elves after a few decades.
  • 19:32
We've got, Dean over here is the woman that's Jenica.
  • 19:41
And the interesting thing about her is that she never died.
  • 19:44
She was into teleportation.
  • 19:48
That was her big area of expertise.
  • 19:50
And she just never came back.
  • 19:53
Hint hint hook.
  • 19:54
Oh.
  • 19:55
I see what you didn't hear.
  • 19:58
What's that mean?
  • 19:59
Yeah.
  • 20:00
Then we have one of Lamont's, Oren over here.
  • 20:07
That's Daren.
  • 20:08
Daren Lamont.
  • 20:09
He was a dean of the college.
  • 20:14
He looks like a wise guy.
  • 20:17
Oren's family is quite central to the story here.
  • 20:23
There'll be lots of opportunities to learn lots of them in this story arc, actually.
  • 20:27
That is awesome.
  • 20:28
And the final one there is Klon Zander.
  • 20:31
He was all into alchemy.
  • 20:33
That was his area of expertise that he really...
  • 20:36
Oh, yeah.
  • 20:37
So if you see a lot of maybe some potions in the game with Klon or Zander's.
  • 20:44
So and so.
  • 20:45
That's the guy.
  • 20:46
What do we have here?
  • 20:50
Just a very normal looking door.
  • 20:52
Probably nothing terrible in there.
  • 20:53
Oh, no.
  • 20:54
I mean this mural.
  • 20:55
Oh, oh.
  • 20:56
The humans asking the Pyrrha for help with magic.
  • 21:01
The periods.
  • 21:02
Yeah.
  • 21:03
Oh, yeah.
  • 21:04
The period.
  • 21:05
Yeah.
  • 21:06
Very cool.
  • 21:07
They've got a teaching...
  • 21:08
The period teaching the killer or the alien at that point.
  • 21:09
Yeah.
  • 21:10
The aliens.
  • 21:11
And over here.
  • 21:12
Oh, the five moons.
  • 21:18
The tower's construction and the five moons.
  • 21:21
Phases of the moon.
  • 21:22
Three moons.
  • 21:23
The three phases.
  • 21:24
Or five phases.
  • 21:25
Yeah.
  • 21:26
Perfect.
  • 21:27
Very cool.
  • 21:28
And we also have there's...
  • 21:29
Yeah.
  • 21:30
The symbology for the period and the aliens.
  • 21:31
If you notice on the doors, you have a lion head on one side representing humans and
  • 21:40
the griffin head on the other representing the elves.
  • 21:43
Who are the guys pulling the doors open?
  • 21:45
Just a couple of guards.
  • 21:48
What is this sandal?
  • 21:51
Oh my God.
  • 21:56
I'm sorry.
  • 22:04
That made me cough a storm.
  • 22:06
That is hilarious.
  • 22:08
That is hilarious.
  • 22:09
I love it.
  • 22:10
All right.
  • 22:11
So what is our objective here?
  • 22:13
What are we looking for inside right now?
  • 22:15
Now this is just the entrance, the foyer of the tower of the university.
  • 22:24
So we're not going to obviously take you through everything.
  • 22:26
A lot of it's still a work in progress.
  • 22:29
Always remember that this is a work in progress right now.
  • 22:31
This is part of the Alpha 2 experience.
  • 22:34
You'll be able to explore, delve into this dungeon.
  • 22:39
So what are we going to see in here?
  • 22:43
Even more corruption and blood.
  • 22:46
More blood for sure.
  • 22:48
I like the bell.
  • 22:51
The gong is cool.
  • 22:52
Yeah, I guess it is a bell.
  • 22:53
Bowling.
  • 22:54
Oh my God.
  • 22:55
Wow.
  • 23:14
This looks great.
  • 23:15
I love this interior.
  • 23:17
The lighting is so moody.
  • 23:22
Oh my God.
  • 23:23
This is like the supreme edgelord environment.
  • 23:27
Take a look around at this.
  • 23:28
There's a treasure chest over there to get our loot.
  • 23:31
For my styles.
  • 23:32
But after we look around before we get the treasure.
  • 23:34
Even the gothic-esque lamp with the nasty flesh environment.
  • 23:42
Oh God.
  • 23:43
We have some loot.
  • 23:46
Is this like a treasure chest?
  • 23:49
That's a treasure chest.
  • 23:50
Whoa.
  • 23:51
Or not.
  • 23:52
No, no, no, no.
  • 23:53
Not like that.
  • 23:54
Nuke it from orbit.
  • 23:55
Nuke it from orbit.
  • 23:57
Oh, thank you.
  • 23:58
Perfect.
  • 23:59
Where'd it go?
  • 24:00
Where did it go?
  • 24:01
Behind us now.
  • 24:02
Oh.
  • 24:03
Come here.
  • 24:09
Oh my God.
  • 24:10
This thing is crazy.
  • 24:12
Look at it.
  • 24:13
These are just the entrance mobs?
  • 24:15
It's just the entrance, yeah.
  • 24:19
Oh no.
  • 24:22
Oh.
  • 24:23
No.
  • 24:24
This guy is nasty.
  • 24:29
Now these tend to do some nasty things when they die, right?
  • 24:33
I mean, this is basically like a, what is this, a hoarder?
  • 24:36
AKA mimic?
  • 24:37
No, I'm just kidding.
  • 24:38
This looks...
  • 24:39
Baron hoarder.
  • 24:40
Get away from it.
  • 24:41
Get away.
  • 24:42
Run.
  • 24:43
Get back.
  • 24:44
Get back.
  • 24:45
Oh.
  • 24:46
Oh, no.
  • 24:47
Oh, no.
  • 24:48
Oh, no.
  • 24:49
Oh, no.
  • 24:50
Oh, no.
  • 24:51
Get away.
  • 24:52
No.
  • 24:53
You're pulling it into the party.
  • 24:54
Oh, no.
  • 24:55
Oh, that is nasty.
  • 25:02
This is absolutely phenomenal.
  • 25:05
Yeah, they did an incredible job on this.
  • 25:09
It just looks so good.
  • 25:11
Well, is there anything else that you guys want to touch on from the story arc perspective?
  • 25:17
Oh, I guess there's one thing people might be curious about.
  • 25:23
I mentioned how you could do what you needed to do as long as the phase, like you can do
  • 25:28
any quests available in that phase while that phase is available.
  • 25:32
So what happens if you miss something, you go on vacation or whatever and you can't log
  • 25:36
in during the week to participate in the quests that are going on in the phase for that story
  • 25:40
arc.
  • 25:42
For most story arcs, they do repeat.
  • 25:44
After they complete, they'll go on a cool down and they will repeat again.
  • 25:46
You'll have another opportunity to get involved with them the next time they come through.
  • 25:51
For our big major world spanning story arcs that will tell your server's own story, those
  • 26:01
ones don't repeat.
  • 26:02
Those are one and done.
  • 26:03
You can replay them.
  • 26:04
There's a different system for replaying previous phases for the big main story arcs.
  • 26:10
However, decisions and objectives you make in those won't count toward your servers,
  • 26:17
what's canonized for your server, which is our way of saying what decisions they make
  • 26:22
for the objectives and stuff they completed.
  • 26:24
All this goes to really creating that experience of player agency being seen through world
  • 26:35
building and actually changing the locations, the environment, the story, and how it influences
  • 26:42
future arcs down that path for the world to reflect.
  • 26:47
It creates such a unique environment between different servers and the histories that they
  • 26:54
create.
  • 26:55
Exactly.
  • 26:56
I think Jeremy said it really well earlier when we were trying to help figure out the
  • 27:02
right words to describe these very complicated systems.
  • 27:05
He said, go ahead, Jeremy.
  • 27:08
In MMO, you have different philosophies on storytelling.
  • 27:12
We're going a more old school, like the world has a story and you're playing within the
  • 27:15
world story.
  • 27:17
In our case, you're helping to guide that by the decisions that you make while doing
  • 27:21
your quests and the different players.
  • 27:24
If a bunch go one way and a few go the other way, that canonizes down that way.
  • 27:31
Our recent MMOs have just focused the story on the player and used instance and phasing
  • 27:36
to tell individual stories at different times and at different durations.
  • 27:45
We're more old school saying the world is evolving.
  • 27:49
You participate in how the world story is going, more on how you owe and EverQuest and
  • 27:57
absolutely those games.
  • 27:59
Lineage.
  • 28:00
Everybody is playing in the same world and the state of that world is something that
  • 28:05
everybody is building together.
  • 28:07
All great games.
  • 28:08
Absolutely.
  • 28:09
Well, go ahead, Amy.
  • 28:10
Sorry, go ahead.
  • 28:11
I was going to say that one of the major goals I feel like we have is to allow player decisions
  • 28:20
to have consequences and to have meaningful results from the decisions that they make.
  • 28:29
It seems like people can really create their own stories.
  • 28:33
Absolutely.
  • 28:35
Phenomenal work, guys.
  • 28:36
Well, I want to thank you three for joining me to help kind of give players a peek, a
  • 28:41
little peek under the hood for the Tower of Carthen as I train your party.
  • 28:45
I apologize.
  • 28:47
And I cannot tell you how beautiful and unbelievable this area is.
  • 28:51
I mean, the artists are just phenomenal.
  • 28:55
So killer killer job on this.
  • 28:58
So with that being said, we're going to go run back to the stream.
  • 29:03
Super exciting stuff.
  • 29:05
And we will be back with you in just a moment.
  • 29:08
Thank you, guys.
