Le Ashes of Creation Apocalypse battle royale (aussi connu sous le nom de BR mode)[5] était un mode de test de style Battle royale allant jusqu'à 100 joueurs.[6][7]
- C'est un mode de combat JcJ de type dernière personne en vie .[8]
- Les armes et armures trouvées dans le monde possèdent une compétence unique qui leur est associée. Elles interagissent avec le terrain d'un point de vue défensif, offensif et utilitaire.[8]
- Les joueurs peuvent construire des bâtiments et structures tels des tours de garde, des bunkers défensifs et des structures arcaniques.[8]
- Chaque élément du monde (arbres et rochers exclus) est destructible.[9]
Ça aura un niveau d'énergie et d'activité élevé. Ça sera propice aux lives. Ça sera sans accord de confidentialité (NDA). Il y a beaucoup d'armes et de compétences qui pourrons être testés. Mécanique de tir à la tête
Il n'y a pas de mécanisme de tir à la tête dans le MMORPG Ashes of Creation.[12][13][14]
- Le tir à la tête faisait partie de Ashes of Creation Apocalypse battle royale.[14]
- Auparavant il a été déclaré que des mécanismes de tir à la tête pourraient être implémentés dans le MMORPG avec une chance de critique plus élevée[15][16] et qu'ils ne seront pas des tirs mortels.[15]
- Le tir à la tête dans le action-combat est équivalent à un coup critique dans le combat à ciblage tab.[17]

Weapon and armor skills
Armes and Armure are tied to skills in Ashes of Creation Apocalypse.[18]
- Swapping between weapons will allow players to access the different skills on their hotbar.[18]
- Certain armor pieces have utility and defensive skills, such as like Camouflage, Polymorph and Battlefield wall.[18]
- Weapons are tied to one specific skill in early testing, but this may change.[19]
Weapons will have skills associated with them and they'll will rest on a hot bar and you can swap between the weapons on the hot bar and that'll allow you to access the different skills. Additionally the breastplate, the leggings: Those also have skills associated with them those are more utility and defensive abilities, such as like camouflage, polymorph, battlefield wall; that stuff. Those are on the armor pieces and then they are associated with right now the VC hotkeys for their abilities.[18] – Steven Sharif

Alpha-1 active blocking
Le bouclier Paladin's Might dans Ashes of Creation Apocalypse posséde sa propre hitbox et point de vie (PV). Il peut bloquer les projectiles.[20]
- Les développeurs n'ont pas encore décidé si le blocage actif sera intégré dans le MMO. Ils se dirigent pour le moment vers un système plus traditionnel basé sur la mitigation de dégâts à l'aide de buff mais tout en considérant l’interaction entre le positionnement du blocage avec un blocage passif provenant du système de stat en cascande
Dans APOC quand nous avions la posture active du bouclier- cela était un blocage actif du bouclier basé sur un système de combat d'action; et quand nous avons collecté les données du concept sur son efficacité et sa précision durant son utilisation par les joueurs, nous avons remarquées que cela n'était pas très élevés; et c'est préoccupant au moins quant à la mise en place d'un blocage par bouclier exclusivement actif par opposition à l'activation d'un buff qui donne un pourcentage de blocage universel aux dommages reçues- et en lien avec les stats- c'est vraiment quelque chose sur laquelle on tente d'intégrer dans le système de combat hybride[21] – Steven Sharif
C'est quelque chose dont nous réfléchissons de manière récurrente et que nous testons activement dans notre système hybride et vous nous connaissez quand il s'agit de quelque chose que nous prenons en considération. Bien sûr nous voulons une partie action qui puisse interagir avec le système de stat par cascade; et vous savez que ça sonne comme un oxymore d'un point de vue action et ciblé, mais ce n'est pas nécessairement le cas. Il peut y avoir une partie action- par exemple si vous utilisez votre posture de bouclier et que vous interceptez correctement un projectile ou une compétence provenant d'un arc frontal, vous allez mitiger 80% des dégâts ou appliquer 80% de la défense physique du bouclier; et s'il provient d'une zone en dehors de cet arc frontal vous allez avoir un bonus moins élevé; et c'est essentiellement ce qui se passerait si l'on prenait en compte par exemple la valeur de la défense physique de votre bouclier, vous l'appliquez comme un facteur de mitigation des dégâts reçus, mais en plus vous ajoutez les stats en cascade à ce système responsable de la mitigation des dégâts du bouclier ou du taux de blocage; et peut-être vous savez que la compétence principal indique 80% de mitigation des dégâts provenant d'un arc frontal qui peut atteindre 87% grâce à vos stats essentiellement; et si cela n'est pas dans cet arc frontal, alors il s'abaissera à une valeur de 50% d'efficacité- voire 40% ou quelque chose comme ça. Donc ça vous donne une idée de qu'est ce qui est utilisé pour déterminer ces compétences et comment ils intéragissent d'un point de vue action.[21] – Steven Sharif

Your base look for the character can be pretty boring, but what Steven gave us a challenge with from day one was to make sure even the base look, the t-shirt and pants, looked amazing... This is your zero character, if you will... Then you can go in and customize everything from the shoulder pads to the elbow pads, the belt that goes around them; do you want duel belts, you want to harness the clothes in the front. So every piece you see on here you can actually customize that at the front end. So what we do is we scale that up from zero, ten and twenty... We scale it up and we customize it; and then I want to really stress that each one of those looks as you progress is different. We're not just repurposing the same armor pieces. Ashes of Creation Apocalypse will have three different armor themes: Plate, leather and robe.[23]
You can actually have three different types of themes: You have plate, you'll have leather and you'll have robe. So for every armor set that we're showing at each one of those tiers, you're actually gonna have nine unique looks to pick from.[23] – Mat Broome

The Ashes of Creation user interface (UI) and HUD is built with customization in mind, rather than being one-size-fits-all.[27][25][28]
- Users will be able to quickly customize UI elements on-the-fly to suit the PvX nature of the game and different styles of combat.[27]
- Customization of UI elements, especially there on the HUD is a top desired aspect of our UI team.[27] – Steven Sharif

Alpha-1 mini map
There is an in-game minimap and compass user interface in Ashes of Creation.[33][34][35]
- The goal is to allow pings and other forms of communication tools via the mini-map.[36]
Alpha-1 hotkeys
Players will be able to customize their keyboard control scheme in Ashes of Creation.[38]
- Keybinds were not yet adjustable (in Alpha-1).[39]
- Action targeting can be toggled via a key to enable mouse targeting via a reticle that feels similar to a third-person action game.[39]
- Players will be able to trigger skills with combinations of different keystrokes, and reuse the same keys as part of different combinations.[40]

Alpha-1 testing
While we will have specific spot tests for certain systems as we develop them post the Alpha one month, it should be expected and understood that after this Alpha one month there will be probably a significant amount of downtime where there won't be spot testing as we break apart a lot of systems, take what we learned from alpha one month and implement and iterate upon those learnings. The term "alpha" is a tricky one, and it typically has 2 meanings in gaming. The development meaning for alpha is a point in the process where we are ready to test the fundamental systems in their core form, without polish and without much of the content. Then, there is the external or "marketing" term for alpha. This is typically applied to Eastern-ported MMORPGs, when in fact that is a completed game being localized for a region, and not really indicative of a true development alpha. As you may know by now, game development has many stages - from the initial tech demos to the pre-production and pre-alpha states, then on to the alphas and betas and eventually launch.[32] – Steven Sharif
I want to make emphatically clear, our alphas and betas are true development alphas and betas, and some have said I am crazy to allow these phases to be seen without an NDA…maybe I am crazy? lol… But I am trusting the community of gamers out there to get a glimpse into the process, and understand the long road ahead for what will eventually be worth the wait. Given time and talent, amazing things can happen, so make sure you help us in communicating that we are in open development which means people get to see the bare bones before the meat. Alpha-1 testing was available to the following participants:
- Anyone who won and claimed an Alpha-1 Key through a giveaway.[67]
- Adventurer pre-order pack and Intrepid pre-order pack owners.[67]
- Braver of worlds, Leader of men, Royalty, Hero of the people, and Avatar of the phoenix Kickstarter and summer campaign backers.[67]

There were approximately 9,600 participants in Alpha-1 testing as of August, 2018.[68][69]
- As of May 31, 2021, just under 5k additional participants have been added since Alpha-1 sales resumed. Less refunds and unclaimed codes, leaves a total of slightly over 13k testers.[68]
- The weekend test of May 27, 2021 saw 5,300 unique logins over the 3 day period.[68]
There were roughly 9600 if I recall A1 participants prior to my closing the preorder packs in 2018. Since opening them up again there have been just under 5k additional participants added. And prolly around 300 refunds give or take. Of the roughly 14,000 a1 testers, there are still about 1k unredeemed ks codes which leaves a little over 13k testers? Alpha-1 NDA
Alpha-1, Alpha-2, Beta-1, Beta-2 releases are not covered by NDA (non-disclosure agreement).[70]
- Alpha-2 testing prior to the full release of Alpha-2 will be under NDA.[71]

- The developers will not necessarily announce when NDA testing starts.[73]

- A: We are in active development, and understanding that for the betterment of our game, we may sometimes have to delay previously provided times and dates in order to make sure that you, as the player, have the best experience.
