Evénements
Evénements are things that happen in Ashes of Creation as the result of development in the world.[3][4] There are several different types of events that are triggered due to certain conditions (predicates) being met.[5][6][1][7] Events are scaled to fit local, regional, and global needs.[8][9]
- Events... can be local, regional or global, and consist of boons or banes. They’re triggered based on a lot of different variables, and some may be one-off Events that occur once, and never again. If an Event is handled successfully, then something good happens to the local, regional, or global area. If it fails, then something bad befalls the local, regional or global area. They’ll relate to the overall Narrative, but don’t fall into its overall structure (for the most part). These are the things that will be written into history, and we imagine that as time grows, each server’s history will diverge more and more.[10]
- Some events incorporate random story-driven interruptions to the normal flow of the world, such as blocking off specific roadways, having a random raid boss or mobs appear unexpectedly in a zone. Some may lead to wider consequences, such as climate change, plagues, volcanic eruptions, forest fires, or other natural disasters.[11][3][12][13][14]
- There are events that lead to the spreading of corruption that players will have to fight back against. When these events occur players will need to participate to keep the intrusion on the material plane back.[15][16][17]
- Events that are taken care of successfully have positive consequences and provide rewards based on the contribution of players during the event.[18][9]
- There are certain effects that can happen in a world that does not have a proper response from the player population and that's the whole idea behind these events that can happen; that feel like these are natural world progression events if corruption starts to show itself as a response- as a push back to the player's development of nodes in the world itself.[15] – Steven Sharif
- Events that reach a fail condition can have negative consequences.[19][15][9]
- There is the ability to fail. I know that is a strange concept for a lot of us nowadays playing more modern games, but there is absolutely a way to fail.[19] – Steven Sharif
- Events have cooldowns in addition to the predicates that are required to trigger them.[19]
- Events absolutely do have cooldowns that cannot be forced to spawn repeatedly over and over again. Those cooldowns are not just something that's based on a timer, they're also predicated on certain actions occurring within the world.[20] – Steven Sharif
- If events are not triggered within a certain time period, they could occur randomly.[4]
- Some events will only be available while story arcs are in certain chapters.[21]
- There may be one-off events.[10]
- Events do not directly impact class effectiveness but there may be ancillary effects in terms of availability of equipment, enchantments or tattoos.[22]
There are a variety of different types of events that are triggered due to certain conditions (predicates) being met.[5][6][1][7]

- Monster coin events.[1][27][28]
- Narrative events.[1][29][7][9]
- Node attacks.[1][27][15]
- POI events.[1][29]
- PvP events.[1][29][30]

Server prime-time
Objective-based PvP events such as node sieges, castle sieges, guild wars, and node wars will occur within a prime-time window somewhere between 3PM and 9PM server time. This is subject to testing.[31][32][33]
- Guild wars and node wars can be declared at any time, but the objectives will only spawn during the prime-time window.[34]
Cinematic events
Ashes of Creation will have in-game cinematics (as opposed to pre-recorded cinematic trailers), utilizing tools to help tell the game's story from the player's perspective.[36][37]
- Q: I have been wondering how you will capture the storytelling from a casual point of view. Arguably one of if not the best trailers out there is "Star wars the old republic" where they spend tons of money on capturing an audience through some phenomenal trailers. Are you looking to do the same or what trailers can we expect from Ashes of Creation?
- A: There are certain budgetary requirements in order to afford very high-end cinematics and voice actors... and what that means is: how we want to implement on that front is really going to be in-engine, in-game- how we capture those scenes, how we capture those elements of story; and the good thing is that from a lore, narrative, and questing perspective, we have some functionality and tools that we're going to be utilizing to help tell the story from the player's perspective, because so much of the story is derived from player action, from community engagement, from the social interactions and decisions made along these different story arcs that can occur; and each server is different.[36] – Steven Sharif
- Server-firsts will be able to be captured and collected on memory fragments that players can collect in-game so they may relive their experiences.[36]
Contenu adaptatif

Et admettons que ce nœud se soit développé en tant que nœud scientifique (artisanat)… Eh bien avant que ce nœud ait été développé, ce donjon était accessible… Mais maintenant le donjon a propagé des nouveaux objets et monstres qui incluent des tables de butin qui répondront à des besoins d'artisanat grâce au développement de ce nœud scientifique. Et peut être qu'un nouveau boss apparaîtra dans différentes pièces du donjon qui inclura des différents départs de quêtes et d'aventures, comme un objet mystérieux avec une histoire propre qui ne peut être avancée que si un nœud s'est développé jusqu'au statut de métropole dans certaines régions, à travers la planète. Seasonal events
Calendar events (seasonal events/holidays) in Ashes of Creation can be in-game events or they can relate to the real-world in some way.[24][40][25]
- Events are not a direct parallel with real world events. Instead, there will be in-game lore behind seasonal events that can relate to the real-world in some way.[24][40][25]
- Certain calendar events will incorporate the cultural identity of the various character races.[41]
- Part of the things that they're working on is creating a lot of cultural identity for these character races and how we can bring about these calendar events from the perspective of each individual race. That's something that I think is going to be really helping identify or giving identity to each of the character races.[41] – Steven Sharif
- Seasonal events in-game may not exactly align with real-world seasons due to the different in-game seasonal cycle.[42]
- Will seasonal events in the real-world align with the seasonal rotation in the game world? And I think in that sense probably not. That's going to require a little bit of suspension of disbelief in understanding that. But it's also fair that in-game events do not need to be perfectly cyclical like let's say seasonal events are in the real world. They could have a non-uniform cycle associated with them... There is something to be said for having that represented in the game as long as it's immersive; as long as it's contextualized within the story and the world and the universe that we've created; and isn't a direct homage to Santa Claus in the real-world, just to use a prime example of something.[42] – Steven Sharif
- Holiday events are not going be "campy" or immersion-breaking.[24]
- We have a lot of ideas on how certain real-world holidays can be contextualized within the game world and seem fitting.[24] – Steven Sharif
Evénements may bring seasonal change.[3][14]
- A raid boss, such as a winter dragon, may appear because a node has developed to Town (organiser 4). This may bring an eternal winter that affects crop rotations until it is killed.[3][14]
Announcements/Notifications

- Les Village (organiser 3) auront une annonce dans toute la région.[45]
- Les Town (organiser 4) et plus élévés seront sans doutes annoncés dans le monde entier.[45]
Les nouveaux citoyens d'un noeud seront peut-être annoncés dans un chat de citoyen de noeud.[46]
Les évènements de noeuds locaux, comme les caravanes ne seront pas annoncés. À la place, ils dépendront du bouche-à-oreille des joueurs.[43]
Que ce soit un siège ou un évènement déclenché contre une ville, ou même une opportunité unique pour un donjon... Ce genre de choses impliqueront des notifications. Surtout pour les citoyens de la ville, qui seront informés d'un évènement imminent, pour leur donner assez de temps.[44] – Steven Sharif
Pièces de Monstres
Pièces de Monstres enable players to play as monsters within the monster coin event system. This ranges from playing as a horde of zombies, to becoming a massive dragon.[50][27][28]
- During a Monster Coin Event, players will be able to activate Monster Coins, allowing them to become monsters and wreak havoc! These Events can be triggered in a variety of different ways, and in some cases they may even provide cosmetic rewards.[1]
Monster coin events are system spawned events.[27][51]
- They are structured in a way to prevent groups from gaming the system.[51]
- Monster coin events are triggered by activity in the world, such as node advancement, defeating a boss or constructing certain types of buildings within a node.[52]
- Server messages appear for players in the vicinity of these dynamic events.[53]
- The player will have a number of potential objectives they can choose to attack during the event. This may include node buildings, points-of-interest, dungeon, NPC, or other open-world objective.[47]
- When you're playing as a as a monster from the monster coin use as part of an NPC event that might be targeting a node, or other some other open-world objective or POI, or dungeon, you get to participate as a monster and your focus is completing objectives that have already been prescribed as part of the event.[47] – Steven Sharif
- Drop tables are disabled for player controlled monsters.[54]
- Monster coins only allow a character to participate in events on their own server.[55]
- NPC hate lists do not affect monster coin events.[47]
The Ancients are not going to be part of the monster coin system.[56]
- Traditionally, the Ancients are not going to be part of the Monster Coin system. These are the primary antagonists of the story. From a lore perspective, and one of the reasons why they're not a part of the Monster Coin system, is because their souls have really developed almost to the point of perfection in manipulating the Essence for more corrupt uses. They haven't quite gotten there, and who knows if they ever will, but that attunes them out of the possibility: The reason why the monster coin system is possible with other creatures.[57] – Steven Sharif
Monster coin progression
There is a progression system that levels a player's monster skills based on how often they participate in monster events.[58]
- In Ashes of Creation a large portion of world events revolve around the environment reacting to the player. This means that as players are exploring the world and developing civilization around them the environment is responding to this encroachment by spawning dynamic events and creatures to attack those developing cities. These events occur in 3 different types: the Legion level the Elite level and the Epic level.[59] – Steven Sharif
As nodes advance, so does the scale of the monsters.[53] There are tiers of events denoting the caliber of the monsters being spawned.[28]
- Q: Will World bosses like the like Tumok take part in the NPC sieges on nodes and will players be able to use a monster coin to play as one of those world bosses in an event?
- A: That is the intent, is that we will have varying quality of monster coins available creatures like Tumok may participate in certain atrophy events or other types of events; and if you have the very rare and legendary type of monster coin that's available to be used on a creature type like Tumok then yes, you could inhabit him. That's the intent of the system.[50] – Steven Sharif
Castle regions
Les châteaux de guilde influencent une région de château autour d'eux.[61]

GM run events
There will not be Game master (GM) run events initially, but the systems are in place to add these in the future.[68]
Player driven narrative
The world of Verra will be the same on each server, but Nœuds will develop differently. Different servers will have different narratives. Things that happen on one server may not happen on another.[70]
- The overarching narrative of Ashes of Creation is that players are the returning children of Verra but they will not be characterized individually as "saviors".[71]
We want as many people as possible to experience the main server Narrative. These will branch at different scales, but largely at the personal level. Where things change is at the Node level – different parts of the story will be unlocked based on where and when Nodes grow. Unlocking a part of the story in a certain way locks out progression of the story in a different way. You’ll see different antagonists, different NPCs, and different calls to action depending on what’s happening with the server at that time.[10]
It redefines what the players will experience in an MMORPG to come into a wilderness that is devoid of really any structure outside of what the community creates themselves; and then what can be created can be changed, if they want to experience a storyline that's been seen on another server, but you're fighting a dragon because you're near a mountain and the other server's fighting a Kraken because they're near the coast and you want to fight that Kraken because of its drop table. If you want to meta it or because you just want that under your belt: to be the server first to take out that Kraken and you have yet to develop the node there, it's incumbent upon you to manifest that in the game.[72] – Steven Sharif
Server history

Libraries
At Village (organiser 3) the academic node's unique building is the Bibliothèque.[74]
- Information about the world will be presented directly to players through the world map UI.[75] Previously the Library was used to access information about the world, such as the history of significant narrative events, locations of gatherable resources, dungeons, and POIs.[74]
- In the past we talked about having a library that was capable of facilitating players exchanging information for map data like that, but we've moved a little bit more in a direction of just presenting that information up front to the player, because travel is such a meaningful portion of the game and we don't have fast travel. So, I think that for Alpha-2 what's planned is that we're going to be showcasing the intricate details of services offered at these node locations from just a UI presentation standpoint within the map.[75] – Steven Sharif
Players can use the Library to access information, including (but not limited to) the following:[74]
Legendary items
There is a small RNG chance of looting rare and legendary items or crafting materials from mobs based on the level, status and type of mob. This also applies to harvesting resources with a gathering profession.[76]
- There is a much higher chance that materials and unique recipes are dropped that can be used to craft items of equitable value.[77][78][79]
- Légendaire equipment is only dropped by Legendary world bosses.[80]
- Legendary equipment will have a roughly 6-12% improvement in base stats, subject to testing and balancing.[81]
At each stage from Gatherer to Processor to Crafter you are required to have certain prerequisites before those elite types of materials can be essentially gathered, processed, or crafted.[78] – Steven Sharif
- Gatherers must have high quality tools to gather rare resources.[78]
- Processors must have high tier processing buildings on their freehold to produce rare materials.[78]
- Crafters must also satisfy certain prerequisites to craft legendary equipment.[78]
The amount of effort needed and interdependencies across the different types of players – between raiders and PvPers and crafters and even role players and the taverns and businesses: the processors and gatherers – all of those systems will likely have a component that lends toward creating or crafting that legendary item... We want to stay away from the highly RNGd system, and instead take our multiple progression paths that we are offering the players and put the construction components for achieving these legendary items within them so it encourages communities to work together because it's going to be difficult for just one person by themselves to gather everything. Not to say that they couldn't in an economic sense, by buying those components, that's possible. But achieving them from a time investment standpoint we want it to be considerably less RNG focussed.[79] – Steven Sharif
Certain legendary items may be limited to one per server at any given time.[82][83]
- If the player character leaves the server then the item will become available for acquisition through whatever means it was acquired previously.[82]
There are absolutely legendary items and they're not items that are attained easily nor are they granted out in a volume. There might even be items that are single items that will exist on the server at any given time.[83]
A legendary weapon is easily distinguished by its visual appearance.[79]
It will be a very ornate and detailed weapon, more so than any other weapon or piece of equipment in the game. It will also include some awesome looking effects that won't too gaudy, they won't be too bright and shiny so that it doesn't look good, but they will be subtle and people will notice it and know wow that guy has this weapon.[79] – Steven Sharif
Legendary items are not intended to be temporary.[84]
- A notable exception to this is Royal mounts.[85]
The fact there is only one of them... or very very few of them depending on what it is. I think that in and of itself is a balance component right and you need to make sure that the players who are striving for those legendary things and who are devoting the time energy, resources in order to achieve them are accurately rewarded... We do not intend on having legendary items that are temporary.[84] – Steven Sharif
Discovery of legendary items will unlock further chapters of the Histoire et traditions.[86]
