Name reservations were rewards for backing at the Pioneer level and higher and were previously available through the Voyager plus pre-order pack.[1][2][3]

  • Accounts will have name reservation tokens, that entitle its holder to reserve a name on a specific server when the reservation time comes.[4]

Name reservation priority

Name reservations will be allocated from the highest backer tier to the lowest backer tier.[5]

  1. Kickstarter backer tiers, highest to lowest.[6]
  2. Summer crowdfunding backer tiers, highest to lowest.[6]
  3. Packs de précommande purchased from the web store.[6]

Within each tier, the name reservations are on a first-come-first-served basis.[6]

Name reservations were slated to begin during Alpha-1.[7]

Guild name reservation

Guild name reservation was available in the Braver of worlds and higher backer packages during the Kickstarter and Summer crowdfunding campaigns.[8][9]

Server reservations

Server reservations allow guild members as well as unaffiliated players to reserve character slots on a server starting in the Beta testing stages of the game.[10]

This would likely be utilized more so by guilds than that would be solo or unaffiliated players; and I believe that the solo player they may have friends that they want to play with. That's fine, they can also still with those friends do the reservation system, but the player who is just joining the game fresh and doesn't have a community that they're part of, I don't think they really mind in that regard and will not utilize that system.[10]Steven Sharif

Character names

Alpha-2 nameplates, targeting plates, and raid frame UI.[16]

There have been some updates to a little bit of the nameplates that Colby and the UI team have implemented, as well as some of the targeting plates as well.[16]Steven Sharif

Nameplates are displayed above the head.[13]

  • Player character nameplates will have first, and optionally last name (surname).[13]
    • The name of the character's guild is displayed next to their name.[17]
    • The character's nameplate will deteriorate to give an indication of how much damage they have taken.[18][19][20]
    • An icon will identify the character's class.[21]
    • Hovering over a player nameplate will show information such as level, class name, and archetype combo.[21]
    • A buff icon will indicate the character's gear and grade.[21][22][23]
  • The size and priority of nameplates will be relate to their distance (away from the camera).[24]
  • The visibility of nameplates can be obscured by in-game objects, such as trees; by utility skills, such as Camouflage or Stealth; or through the use of disguises.[25][26]
  • UI settings will enable nameplates to be hidden, resized, and customized.[27][28]
You can set nameplates to always appear. You can set it to only appear on targets. You can set it to only appear on targets that have taken damage. You can set it to only appear on targets that are aggroing you or your party members. You can set it for your allies, for yourself, for whatever: There's a lot of highly customizable options that are currently in the game.[27]Steven Sharif

Nameplates in the party UI indicate the player's choice of secondary archetype.[15]

  • A padlock icon indicates that the secondary archetype is not yet unlocked.[15]
